CELEBRATING WITH THE FAMILY

Celebrating with the Fam - Pic 3

Kesän ensimmäisenä viikonloppuna juhlimme M:n perheen kesken suloista Aleksiinaa, jonka päähän painettiin valkolakki. Aleksiina kirjoitti hienosti useamman L:n paperit, joten neidin voisi sanoa olevan yhtä fiksu kuin on kauniskin.

On the first summer weekend, M’s family and I celebrated the sweetest Aleksiina who had just gotten her student hat for finishing high school. Aleksiina actually got the best grades in her class, so one could say she’s just as smart as she is beautiful.

It was no surprise that, at Aleksiina’s party, everything was on point starting from the fact that the house is absolutely beautiful (a bit like my dream house, even)! The dessert table was abundant with so many of my favorite goodies such as pastel-coloured macarons and tiramisu cake. There were flowers basically everywhere, both in the garden and indoors, making the party a real blogger’s dream.

Viime viikonloppu kuluikin sitten hieman erilaisten bileiden merkeissä. Drinkkikoulussa opin mitä herkullisimma Salty caramel sour -drinkin reseptin!

Last weekend, I had so much fun at the bachelorette party of one of my dearest friends, and as one of her bridesmaids, I was actually one of the girls to organize the celebration. We did some trampoline gymnastics, had the funniest wedding bingo and tried our wings as bartenders learning some new recipes of some tasty cocktails. I learned how to mix a very refreshing drink called Salty caramel sour!

Kivaa viikonjatkoa murut!

From the city, we drove to a beautiful summer house to continue the bachelorette party. Seeing the villa, I was stunned as there were sea surrounding the area in three directions. In Finland, we usually have a bridal sauna at bachelorette parties. In the sauna, there are traditionally quite a few rituals to improve the fertility of the bride and also to get rid of all the memories concerning the exes. That’s of course what we did, too! Have you a great week sweethearts!

Hi Anna Pauliina, I read this post with great interest and this is because I write a blog about Finnish culture. You can view the example of my work here: https://www.vanone.co.uk/relocating-to-finland/finnish-language-culture/. I found intriguing the contrast between the EU countries in respect to the importance families attach to the quality of the school grades achieved by their children. In Holland for example, and in the UK to the lesser extent, achieving higher then average grades at school is considered us unnecessary or even excessive. In Slavic cultures, on the other hand, not achieving high grades is considered as a failure. By commenting on your blog post I am referring to what you said about Aleksiina.

Hi Michael, thank you for leaving such an interesting comment. I value education highly, and that's one of the reasons why I think it's great Aleksiina did as well as she did in school. Here in Finland, finishing high school with excellent grades makes it easier to get into the college or university of your choice. It's just the system we have here. Have a happy Wednesday!

5 REASONS FOR WHY I LOVE SUMMER SO MUCH
1) Getting to eat barbecue food Kesäisin grilliruoka on parhaita juttuja, mitä tiedän. In the summertime, barbecuing is one of the best activities I know. As we don't have our own yard nor a grill yet, getting to barbecue is a special thing for me. I associate grilling with spending quality time togeth ...

INSPIRATIONAL MOODBOARD FOR AUGUST
The upcoming fall Vaikka elokuu onkin vielä kesäkuukausi, niin mun on pakko vähän hehkuttaa tulevaa syksyä! Viime päivinä on ollut ihana seurata, miten viileämmät säät ja pimenevät illat tekee hiljalleen tuloaan. Elo- ja syyskuu on itse asiassa mun kaksi lemppareinta kuukautta, ja fiilistelin näitä viimeksi ääneen tänään aamulla mun kampaajan kanssa (olin muuten taas jostakin syystä keksinyt tehdä ajanvarauksen aamuseitsemäksi). Even though I still regard August as a summer month, I just have to tell you how excited I am about the fall! The last few days have been wonderful as the air feels fresh again and the nights are slowly getting dark ...
