We started our third and last whole day in Paris by having a little shopping spree on Avenue Montaigne. The avenue is bordered by beautiful boutiques by practically all the major luxury brands. Here’s where I bought my little Chanel, first of a kind. Making the decision of which bag to choose wasn’t exactly the easiest I’ve made.
Kolmannen, ja siten viimeisen, päivämme Pariisissa aloitimme suuntaamalla Avenue Montaignen putiikkeihin. Luksusbrändien reunustamalta ostoskadulta tarttui mukaan jo asukuvissa debytoinut pieni Chanelini. Päätös siitä, mikä laukku oli juuri minulle täydellinen, ei ollutkaan sitten aivan helpoimmasta päästä.
Even though caviar-skin would probably be the most long-lasting choice, I simply couldn’t resist the softness of lambskin. When it comes to both the leather and the metallics, I was pretty determined to avoid the shinier materials as they, in my opinion at least, tend to look of low value, even a bit fake, I’d say. Choosing the metallic colour of the buckle and the strap was, however, quite easy. I ended up picking matte gold as it doesn’t clash with either gold or silver details of an outfit.
Vaikka caviar-nahka säilyisi pitkäaikaisessa käytössä mahdollisesti hieman parempana, hurmasi lampaannahka minut pehmeydellään täysin. Sekä nahkavalinnan että metalliosien suhteen halusin välttää materiaalin “kiiltoa”, joka mielestäni tekee laukusta kuin laukusta jokseenkin halvan, sanoisinko jopa feikin, näköisen. Metallisen soljen ja hihnan suhteen valinta oli helppo. Matte gold ei mielestäni riitele lainkaan muun asun hopeistenkaan yksityiskohtien kanssa.
One of most important qualities of the bag was definitely a long enough strap to wear it across my body so that I’d get hands free to deal with the camera, for example. Out of Chanel’s extensive collection of bags, this one happened to be the biggest model that came with a cross-body strap. Here, I’m mumbling about bags as the subject of this post was supposed to be our last day of vacation in Paris. At Avenue Montaigne, we catched the subway to head to the area of Tour d’Eiffel where we spent a moment admiring the Eiffel Tower. After filling up our stomachs with delicious lasagne, it was time to move on to Les Invalides. And that’s where we snapped the outfit photos that day.
Eräs laukun tärkeimmistä edellytyksistä oli vartalon yli ylettyvä, riittävän pitkä hihna, joka täten vapauttaa kädet esimerkiksi järkkärin kanssa puuhasteluun. Chanelin sinällään kattavasta laukkuvalikoimasta tämä sattui olemaan isoin malli, jonka hihnassa riitti pituutta vartaloni yli nostettavaksi. Sitten olisi laukkuhöpinöihin eksyttyä aika palata taas takaisin aiheeseen. Avenue Montaignelta nappasimme metron Tour d’Eiffelin alueelle, jossa vietimme hetken Eiffel-tornia tuhatpäisen turistilauman seassa ihaillen. Herkullisen lasagne-lounaan jälkeen oli aika siirtyä Les Invalidesin alueen mahtipontiselle Invalidikirkolle asukuvia napsimaan.
As I think I’ve already mentioned before, the weather that day was unbelievably lovely. As usual, the photo session ended up lasting longer than expected (the result can be seen here), and as we were finished the sun had already started saying its goodbyes. We headed to the Rue Saint Honoré in order to look for the Christian Louboutin boutique, but as we finally got there, the shops had already started closing up.
Niin kuin taisin jo aikaisemmin mainita, oli tänä kolmantena päivänä sää mitä ihanin. Asukuvia ottaessa vierähti kuitenkin tovi (kuvauksien lopputuloksen näet tästä), ja ennen kuin huomasimmekaan, alkoi aurinko jo sanoa päivälle hyvästejä. Siirryimme Rue Saint Honorélle tarkoituksena löytää vielä Christian Louboutinin putiikki, mutta olimme auttamattomasti liian myöhään liikkeellä, sillä perille päästyämme huomasimme kauppojen jo sulkevan oviaan.
We decided to flee from the chilly evening to a cosy-looking bistro we came across of. If I remember correctly, the bistro was situated along Rue du Mont Thabor but, unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the place. The plan was to enjoy a glass of red before heading to some other restaurant for the dinner. As the ambiance and the service of the place turned out excellent, we decided to have the dinner, as well as some dessert, there. I’ve actually thought about it, but I can’t come up with a better way to brighten up one’s autumn than a trip, even if the destination wouldn’t be situated right at the equator. This Christmas season I’m working all the usual weekdays, other than the national holidays, of course, and it’s actually quite nice. In January, I’ll be having only two normal workweeks before heading to somewhere warm. Really looking forward to it already!
Päädyimme pakenemaan viilenevää iltaa erääseen kotoisan näköiseen bistroon, joka taisi sijaita Rue du Mont Thaborilla, jos oikein muistan. Tarkoituksena oli nauttia vain lasilliset punaviiniä ja siirtyä sitten illalliselle toiseen ravintolaan. Niin bistron miljöö kuin palvelu tekivät meihin kuitenkin niin positiivisen vaikutelman, ettemme enää malttaneet lähteä Pariisin yöksi taittuvaan iltaan toista ravintolaa etsimään. Päädyimme siis lopulta nauttimaan pääruoan jälkkäreineen tässä samaisessa paikassa, jonka nimeä en kuitenkaan valitettavasti tähän hätään muista. En kyllä tiedä reissua parempaa keinoa kaamosaikaa piristämään, vaikka matka ei aivan päiväntasaajalle suuntautuisikaan. Joulunajan olen välipäiviä myöten aivan normaalisti töissä, mikä on itse asiassa oikein mukavaa. Tammikuussa on sitten vain kaksi normaalia duuniviikkoa ennen seuraavaa matkaamme, jota odotankin jo innolla!
