Tässä postauksessa kerroin, miten kaasot ja minä valmistauduttiin tärkeään päivään häiden aamuna. Seuraavaksi tullaankin häiden tärkeimpään osuuteen eli vihkimiseen. Oltiin suunniteltu vihkiminen tapahtuvaksi Mustion linnan upeassa puutarhassa, veden äärellä ja harsokukin koristellun kaaren alla. Ajellessamme kaasojen kanssa kohti Mustion linnaa aurinko paistoi, ja muutenkin oli mitä upein syyskesän sää. Autossa fiilistelin paitsi tulevaa päivää, myös sitä, ettei Ilmatieteen laitoksen – tai minkään muunkaan sääennusteen – mukaan pitäisi sataa.
In this post, I told you guys how my bridesmaids and I got ready in the morning of our wedding. Now it’s time for me to walk you through the most important part of the day. The ceremony, that is. We had planned on everything to take place in the beautiful garden of Svartå Manor, nearby the water and under an arc decorated with Gypsophila. As my bridesmaids and I were driving towards Svartå, there was no cloud in sight, and it was pretty much the perfect late summer day. In the car, I checked the weather forecasts on my phone and none of them predicted rain.
No, puolisen tuntia ennen vihkimistä oltiin Petran kanssa keskitytty ottamaan getting ready -kuvia, kun kaasot tulivat vähän varovaisesti kertomaan, että hei nyt siellä oikeasti sataa. Me pidettiin siinä vaiheessa M:n kanssa, kaasojen välityksellä pikainen puhelinpalaveri ja päädyttiin siirtämään vihkiminen Mustion kirkkoon. Kirkko sijaitsee ihan linnan vieressä, pienen maalaistien toisella puolella.
Well. Half an hour before the ceremony as Petra and I were taking some getting ready pictures, my bridesmaids came cautiously to tell me it really does rain at the moment. That’s when M and I, mediated by my maid of honour, had a quick talk on the phone and decided to move the ceremony indoors in a small church situated in the near proximity of the original location. There was just a narrow village road in between the two.

Vihkipaikan vaihdos aiheutti viimeiseen puoleen tuntiin aikamoisen paineen bestmaneille. Härdellistä huolimatta oli mahtavaa, miten niin M, bestmanit kuin kaasotkin huolehtivat, ettei kiire välittynyt morsiamelle ollenkaan. Ennen vihkimistä Sara tuli freesaamaan mun meikin, jonka lisäksi ainoa asia mun to do -listalla oli kuohuviinin siemailu. Muutama minuutti kolmen jälkeen olikin aika tavata isä, joka saattelisi mut alttarille. Kun kirkon ovien avautuessa näin M:n ekan kerran, oli se tunne jotain ihan uskomatonta.
Changing the location of the ceremomy in the last 30 minutes caused a bit of pressure for M’s bestmen. Both bestmen and my bridesmaids took such good care of the fact that the situation caused no stress for me at all. And it didn’t! I had the best time waiting for the wedding to start as Sara came by to touch up my makeup and all I had to do was sip on my champagne. A few minutes after three, it was time for me to meet up my dad who would walk me down the aisle. I won’t ever forget the feeling I had as the church doors opened and I got to see M for the first time.
Itse vihkimisestä huolehti meille läheinen pappi, ja oli ihana huomata, miten me kaikki kolme oltiin melkeinpä yhtä jännittyneen liikuttuneita. Kirkossa meillä ei ollut kanttoria, vaan musiikista vastasi jousitrio. Seremonian aikana trio esitti kaksi meidän tarkoin valkkaamaa kappaletta, ja näiden biisien aikana mulla meni ihan kylmät väreet. Yksi trion jäsenistä myös lauloi, ja ihan mielettömän kauniisti vieläpä. Häiden jälkeen on ollut hassua huomata, miten oon ihan uudella tavalla ihastunut jousimusiikkiin.
We were wed by a close relative, and it was so lovely to notice how all three of us were touched by the moment. In the church, we didn’t have a cantor, but the music was provided by a string trio. During the ceremony, the trio played two meaningful songs for us, and I actually felt chills down my spine as I was listening to the singing (one of the players also sang). It has been fun to notice how, after the wedding, I’ve found a completely new love for string music.
Vihkimisen jälkeen me mentiin hetkeksi M:n kanssa “piiloon” odottamaan, että kirkko tyhjenisi vieraista. Tullessamme kirkosta ulos kuulutti toinen bestmaneista meidät ensimmäisen kerran avioparina ja sitten saatiinkin niskaamme aikamoinen määrä heitettäviksi varaamiamme oliivipuun lehtiä. Ihan paras fiilis!
After the ceremony, M and I went into hiding for a short moment as the guests walked out of the church. Then, it was time for us to head out, and that’s when one of M’s bestmen announced us as a husband and a wife for the first time. In addition to the announcement, we were greeted with a rain of olive tree leaves. It was the best feeling ever!
