Well hello! I wanted to share some of these lovely pictures with you. The photos were snapped while we were waiting for our ride in the lobby of our hotel in Nice. Some of you, my dear readers, have asked me about the the specific itinerary of our roadtrip, and that’s one thing I’m going to share with you in this post. Our trip started at the biggest city on the French Riviera. After spending three days exploring Nice, we rented a car to drive to Cannes and also stopped by the village of Antibes on our way the city of the famous film festival. While holding our base in Cannes, we paid a day visit to the lovely Saint-Tropez. From Saint-Tropez we returned to Cannes for the night, just to continue our roadtrip in the morning by driving to the state of Monaco.
Heippa! Halusin jakaa teidän kanssanne Nizzan hotelliaulassa napsitut kuvat, jotka otimme ajankuluksi autokyytiä odotellessamme. Eräs lukija taisi tiedustella Etelä-Ranskan roadtrip-reissumme tarkkaa reittiä, jonka ajattelinkin rustata tämän postauksen yhteyteen. Matkamme alkoi Rivieran suurimmasta kaupunkikeskuksesta, Nizzasta. Vietettyämme kolmisen päivää Nizzaan tutustuen vuokrasimme auton, jolla huristelimme Antibesin kylän kautta elokuvajuhlistaankin tunnettuun Cannesiin. Cannesista käsin teimme yhden päivän iskun Saint-Tropeziin, josta palasimme yöksi Cannesiin vain lähteäksemme seuraavana aamuna ajelemaan Monacon pikkuvaltioon.
In Monaco we felt like resting for a bit, so we spent two days relaxing at the beach in Roquebrune, right outside the lilliput state. During the last part of our vacation, we drove North to the beautiful countryside to explore the little villages of Valensole and Gréoux-les-Bains. Finally, it was time to say goodbye to Riviera by flying from the international airport of Nice to head home to Helsinki. My aesthetic eye was captured by the beauty and lightness of the Boscolo Exedra hotel. The rays of the sun lit up the whole lobby, and the floral prints as well as the orchids in the oblong vases were a nice touch to finish off the design. Bollinger coolers were a lovely finishing touch in the breakfast table, and it was so delightful to cool off in the shade by enjoying a glass of sparkling.
Monacon osuudella vietimme kaksi biitsipäivää Roquebrunessa. Reisuun loppupuolella oli vielä luvassa muutama matkapäivä maaseudulle pohjoiseen, jossa vierailimme Valensolen ja Gréoux-les-Bainsin kylissä. Lopulta lensimme Nizzan kansainväliseltä lentokentältä kotiin Helsinkiin. Boscolo Exedra -hotellimme aula oli mielettömän valoisa kattoikkunasta tulvivan auringonpaisteen valaistessa tilan. Myös kukkaprintein koristellut tuolit ja pitkulaisissa vaaseissa olevat orkideat tekivät ihanan lisän sisustukseen. Aamupalan puolestaan kruunasi shamppanjacoolerit, ja kuumana aamuna oli kiva viilentyä varjossa kuohuvalasillisella. Erityisesti lomalla elämään kaipaa pientä luksusta!
Even though the Boscolo Exedra hotel in Nice was everything an aesthete like me would need, we weren’t that impressed byt the customer service we faced in the reception of the hotel. Already homeward-bound, we noticed they had charged too many breakfasts, and there were also some misunderstandings considering the time of our ride when we were leaving back to the airport. Luckily, these faux pas were compensated by the lovely interiors, amazingly gorgeous rooms and by the delicious breakfast!
Vaikka Nizzan Boscolo Exedra -hotelli hiveli kaltaiseni esteetikon silmää, emme olleet kuitenkaan kaikkein vaikuttuneimpia respan asiakaspalvelun tasosta. Kotimatkalla huomasimme, että aamupaloja oli laskutettu liikaa, lisäksi lentokenttäkyytimme lähtöajassa oli myös epäselvyyksiä. Onneksi näitä kömmähdyksiä hieman kompensoivat hotellin kaunis sisustus, upeat huoneet ja herkullinen aamupala!
