Meidän häitä juhlittiin 26. elokuuta 2017 Mustion linnassa. Yritän hillitä itseni, ettei tää postaus menisi ihan pelkäksi hehkutukseksi. Koska olihan se nyt paras päivä ikinä! En keksi mitään parempaa kuin juhlia rakkautta kaikkein läheisimpien ystävien ja perheenjäsenten kanssa. Silläkin riskillä, että toistan itseäni: olisin niin onnellinen, jos voisin palata ajassa takaisin hääpäivään ja elää sen uudestaan ja uudestaan. Niin kauan kuin aikakonetta ei vielä ole keksitty on meillä onneksi valokuvat!
Our wedding was celebrated the 26th of August 2017 in the Svartå Manor here in Finland. I’ll try to control myself so that there’s something else to this post than just how amazing the day was. I can’t think of anything better than celebrating love with our nearest and dearest. I’ll take the risk of repeating myself when I say I hope I could go back to our wedding day and live it over and over again. Well, as long as the time machine remains uninvented, I’m glad we have photographs!
Mietin pitkään, miten jäsentäisin nää tulevat hääpostaukset. Lopulta päädyin siihen, että tässä ensimmäisessä postauksessa tulee kuvia vähän sieltä täältä, ja sitten seuraavissa käydään päivää läpi kronologisesti. Ensin getting ready -kuvat, sitten vihkiminen, häädinneri ja niin poispäin. Koska AV:n ei ole tarkoitus olla varsinainen hääblogi, ajattelin, että viikossa tulisi maksimissaan yksi hääpostaus. Te lukijat, jotka ette ole hääfiilistelijöitä: ei hätää, koko blogi ei tuu täyttymään kuvista minusta valkoisessa mekossa.
I thought for quite a long time on how I should structure the wedding posts. Eventually, I decided to include random shots here and there in the first one and then walk you through the day chronologically. So after this one, I’ll be posting getting ready pictures, then photos of the ceremony and so on. I’m sure you get the idea. Because AV isn’t an actual wedding blog, I was thinking about writing a maximum of one wedding-related post per week. So the ones of you who aren’t that much into weddings, don’t worry. This blog won’t be all about me in a white dress.
Vaikka ennen häitä tuli piiperrettyä jokaisen päivään liittyvän yksityiskohdan kanssa, yksi meille tärkeimmistä asioista oli juhlien rento tunnelma. Me ei haluttu mitään pönötystä. Sen palautteen perusteella, mitä ollaan saatu, onnistuttiin tässä paremmin kuin hyvin! Oli myös jännä huomata, miten monilla etukäteen suunnitelluilla asioilla ei itse juhlapäivänä enää ollutkaan niin väliä.
Before the wedding, we tried to make every single detail as perfect as we could. That said, the most important thing for us was the warm and relaxed ambiance of the celebration. Cheerful atmosphere was what we were going for, not a strict etiquette. According to the feedback we’ve received, it seems like we succeeded! Also, it was surprising to notice how many of the planned details had relatively little significance on the big day.

Kaasojen kanssa oltiin esimerkiksi puhuttu, että he ottaa kukkaseppeleet pois dinnerin ajaksi, koska ruokailun aikana mulla ei ole kukkia. Sitten tuli hääpäivä, kaasot halusivat mieluummin pitää seppeleet päässä ja sehän sopi paremmin kuin hyvin. Mulle oli tärkeintä, että heillä oli paras mahdollinen fiilis olla ilman, että tarvii miettiä onko hiukset päässet lässähtämään.
Here’s one example for you. Me and my bridesmaids had agreed on them taking off their floral crowns for the dinner as I as the bride wouldn’t have any flowers on me then. Then came our wedding day, and I sensed the bridesmaids would prefer keeping the flower crowns on. That was more than ok for me! I just wanted them to feel as comfortable as possible without having to think whether the hair still looks ok.
Meille oli päivänselvää, että haluttiin juhlia meidän rakkaiden häävieraiden kanssa niin pitkään kuin vieraatkin. Yksi mun tuttu kertoi olleensa äskettäin häissä, joista pääpari oli lähtenyt pois jo hieman yhdeksän jälkeen. Jokainen tietty tekee omissa häissään juuri niin kuin haluaa, mutta mulla on silti vähän vaikeuksia ymmärtää tätä. Ei olisi kyllä tullut mieleen lähteä nukkumaan siinä vaiheessa, kun juhlien tunnelma on melkeinpä parhaimmillaan. Sydämellinen kiitos vielä kaikille meidän tärkeessä päivässä mukanaolleille!
One thing that was clear for us right from the beginning was that we wanted to celebrate with our guests as long as they were up for it. One of my buddies told me he had, not too long ago, attended a wedding where the bride and groom left the reception a bit after 9 p.m. Naturally, everyone can do as they please at their own wedding, but somehow I don’t quite get it – why would we want to leave our own party that early. I’m forever grateful for everyone who was there to celebrate with us!
