Svartå Manor as the location of our wedding photos
Tässä viimesimmässä hääpostauksessa jäätiin siihen, miten me M:n kanssa tultiin ulos kirkosta ja saatiin oliivipuun lehtien sade niskaamme. Vihkimisen jälkeen meidän oli aika siirtyä kuvailemaan potretteja, kun taas muu juhlaväki jatkoi cocktail-tilaisuuteen herkuttelemaan. Hääkuvia varten Mustion linnan alue tarjosi ihan loistavat puitteet, eikä meidän onneksi tarvinnut matkata sen pidemmälle kuvia varten. Linnan alue on kuitenkin sen verran laaja, että oltiin aikataulun optimoimiseksi rekrytty mun isoveli kuskailemaan meitä ja Petra-kuvaajaa lokaatiosta toiseen.
In this latest wedding post of mine, I told you how we exited the church under heavy rain of olive tree leaves. After the ceremony, it was time for us to head for our first session of wedding portraits while our guests prepared to attend the cocktail hour. The Svartå Manor estate offered the prettiest setting for the portraits, so luckily we didn’t have to travel to another location for the photos. The area is however pretty large so we had recruited my brother to drive us and the photographer from one place to another.
To have the portraits taken before or after the ceremony?
Häitä suunnitellessa yksi kuvien kannalta tärkeä mietittävä asia on tietysti, haluaako potretit otettavan ennen vihkimistä vai vasta seremonian jälkeen. Mun tuntuma on, että etukäteen otettavat first look -kuvat olisivat aika suosittuja nykyään, vai mitä ootte mieltä? Mulle ja meille oli kuitenkin tärkeetä, että M näkee mut täydessä hääpäivän tällingissä vasta vihkipaikalle astellessani. Toki valintaan vaikuttaa olennaisesti myös hääpäivän muu aikataulu – jos vihkiminen on kovin myöhään iltapäivästä, on varmasti kätevämpää napata kuvat ennen seremoniaa.
Planning a wedding, one of the most important aspect regarding the photos is the timing of the portrait sessions. The couple should decide whether they want the photos be taken before or after the actual ceremony. For me, it seems like first look pictures are pretty popular these days, or what do you think? We didn’t want M to see me nor my dress before walking down the aisle, so timing the pictures after the ceremony was the obvious choice for us. But naturally if the ceremony is quite late in the afternoon, it might be practical to have the portraits taken before the event starts.

Making sure the guests enjoy themselves
Jos päätyy samaan suunnitelmaan meidän kanssa, on mun mielestä tosi tärkeää huolehtia vieraiden viihtyvyydestä hääparin potrettien ajan. Meidänkin ensimmäinen kuvaussessio kesti hieman yli puoli tuntia, ja sen aikaa olisi vieraana varmasti ollut aika tylsä seisoskella kuivin suin ja tyhjällä vatsalla. Kun me M:n kanssa oltiin hääpotreteissa, sai meidän juhlaväki sillä aikaa nauttia shamppanjasta, pienistä cocktailpaloista ja jousitrion soittamasta kevyestä musiikista. Ainoa pieni asia, mikä järjestelyssä harmitti oli, ettemme itse päässeet osallistumaan cocktailtilaisuuteen kuin vain pieneksi hetkeksi.
If you’re planning on doing as we did, one of the key things is to make sure the guests enjoy themselves while the bride and groom are away taking photos. Our first portrait sessions took a bit over 30 minutes, and I imagine it would’ve been pretty dull standing around waiting for the couple without any food or drinks. As M and I were posing for the pictures, we had organised champagne, cocktail bites and light music played by the string trio to amuse our friends and relatives. The only minor thing was that it would’ve of course been nice to get to enjoy the cocktail hour ourselves, too.
Receiving all the well-wishes
Potreteista siirryttiin vieraiden onniteltavaksi. Kaikkien halauksien ja ihanien onnentoivotuksien jälkeen saatiin itsekin pienet maistiaiset cocktailpaloista ja kylkiäisenä lasilliset Bollingeria. Tässä postauksessa siis ensimmäinen setti meidän hääpotretteja, toivottavasti pidätte niistä! Suunniteltiin M:n kanssa, että tänään valkattaisiin vihdoin kuva meidän kiitoskortteihin. Näitä kuvia katsellessa vain yhden tai kahden valitseminen tuntuu kuitenkin ihan mahdottomalta tehtävältä!
After the portraits, we headed for the cocktail hour to greet our guests. It was amazing to receive so many hugs and well-wishes in such a short time. My cheeks literally hurt due to all the smiling. In this post, you’ll find the first set of our wedding portraits, I hope you like them! M and I planned on choosing one or two pictures for our thank you notes today but, looking at all these photos, it seems like a mission impossible!
