Even though fall was, at one stage of my life at least, my favorite season, longing for a sunny holiday in the autumn time usually is what ends up happening. Despite the fact that I enjoy my work and all the related everyday routines very much, a short vacation under the sun would be more than welcome.
Vaikka syksy oli, jossain vaiheessa ainakin suosikkivuodenaikani, ja nautin suuresti työstäni sekä arkipäivän rutiineista, kuuluu lomalle haikailu syyssäillä kai asiaan. Kun ulkona sataa eikä hämärä väisty valon tieltä päivälläkään, olisi lyhytkin täsmäisku aurinkoon enemmän kuin tervetullut.

We have been planning on a trip for this winter, and for the moment it seems that we’ll be travelling in January. When it comes to distance, the trip will probably be long, as it is practically impossible to refuel on vitamin D in Europe at that time. As we are forced to take into account both of our jobs, the duration of the trip has to be negotiable. The main thing is, however, to be able to wake up on views like these for even a week, or two.
Talvelle, mahdollisesti tammikuulle olisi tarkoituksenamme järjestää matka aurinkoon. Ainakin kilometreissä reissu tulisi olemaan pitkä, sillä Euroopassahan ei D-vitamiinivarastojen täydennys alkuvuodesta onnistu. Kahden uraihmisen työn realiteetit huomioiden voi matkan kestosta sen sijaan joutua tinkimään, mutta pääasiana on kuitenkin, että edes viikon tai kahden ajan saisi herätä tällaisiin maisemiin.
We have set two fundamental criteria on the destination, and I’m pretty sure you can already figure out the two. Our dream destination has to be two things – sunny and warm. Somehow, I have to be able to wait for that intoxicating scent of the sunscreen for a few months, still (am I the only one who finds that scent heavenly?).
Matkakohteelle asettamamme kriteerit ovat tästä kirjoituksestani varmasti tulleet jo ilmi. Kohteesta tulee löytyä kahta asiaa – lämpöä ja aurinkoa. En ymmärrä, miten maltan odottaa aurinkorasvan huumaavaa tuovaa tuoksua aina ensi vuoden puolelle asti (olenko ainoa, jolle aurinkosuojavoiteen tuoksu tuo näin hyvän fiiliksen?).
Even though it would be desirable that January came soon, one of the most wonderful things about travelling is definitely the wait. I’m convinced that planning on the journey will brighten up the dark and rainy months of this autumn extensively!
Vaikka olisi oikein suotavaa, että tammikuu pitenevine päivineen saapuisi mahdollisimman pian, yksi parhaita asioita matkustelussa on ehdottomasti reissun suunnittelu. Tiedän, että matkan etukäteisfiilistely tulee piristämään tätäkin syksyä huomattavasti!
